Young accomplished saxophonist Josh Kelly (from Yellowbird and New Melbourne Jazz Band), performs this night only in the context of saxophone trio, exploring the music of Duke Ellington. The trio aims to strip back Ellington's compositions to their bare bones and find out what is possible when arranging them for just saxophone, bass and drums. Can the power, intensity and force of Ellington's big band writing be transmitted by just a trio?
At only 22 years of age, Josh is quickly establishing himself as a unique voice on the alto saxophone in Melbourne. Do not miss your one and only chance to hear him perform the music of Duke Ellington in this fascinating context.
